Day walksWelcome to Daleswalk’s day walks page. We give you the opportunity to walk through and explore the most beautiful areas of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the company of a friendly and knowledgeable guide. The unique feature of our day trips is that they are tailored to your needs. Whether you are looking for a gentle stroll through a scenic valley or a demanding upland adventure, we can provide what you want and give you a fun and memorable day out. We can cater for groups of two to ten people. We frequently arrange walks with 24 hours notice or less, so please give us a call even if you want to book at short notice. All our excursions are rail based (starting from Skipton station) giving you the opportunity to travel on part of the famous Settle/Carlisle railway. Skipton has good rail links with Leeds and Bradford for those travelling from further away – please ask us or see www.nationalrail.co.uk for details. Our prices start at just £19 per person for a full-day trip and include:
You do not need any previous walking experience to take part in our day walks. Your guide will take care of all navigation and safety aspects to allow you to fully enjoy the experience. All you need are some walking shoes or walking boots, warm clothing, a waterproof jacket/coat and something to drink (at least 1 litre per person, more for longer walks). Attermire Scars from Settle station (easy)
See the fantastic limestone landscape around Settle, with towering cliffs and caves.
The walk ascends gently from Settle into the heart of the most beautiful scenery,
before descending into the centre of this charming market town with its many shops, cafes and pubs.
Distance: around 4 miles
Time: 3 hours at easy pace with several breaks to take in the views
Penyghent from Horton in Ribblesdale station (moderate)
Reach the summit of one of the Three Peaks of Yorkshire.
The ascent is fairly short and will be done at a gentle pace.
The summit promises spectacular views across the Dales and Forest of Bowland.
Descend passing some impressive potholes to Horton for tea in the Penyghent Café on the Pennine Way long distance path, or a drink in one of the two excellent pubs.

Time: 3 hours including plenty of breaks
Whernside from Ribblehead station (adventurous)
Want to stand on the highest summit in Yorkshire?
This walk starts passing the historic Ribblehead viaduct along the beautiful Upper Ribblesdale valley and ascends Whernside,
from where the views across the Dales, Lake District and Morecambe Bay are superb.
The descent includes the small lakes of Whernside Tarns and the beautiful waterfalls at Force Gill,
returning to the Station Inn at Ribblehead for a well earned drink.
Distance: 9 miles
Time: 5-6 hours
